Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
The Scratch Sheet (thescratchsheet.com) is an information site. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site and understand how it’s used. We don’t sell your personal information, and there are no user accounts or logins.
What we collect
- Usage analytics. We use privacy-respecting analytics (including Google Analytics) to see which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and what devices they use. This is aggregate, non-identifying data — we don’t build profiles of individuals.
- Newsletter email. If you subscribe, we store the email address you give us so we can send the updates you asked for. Signup is double opt-in (you confirm by email), and every message has a one-click unsubscribe. Unsubscribing deletes your address from our records.
- Server logs. Like most sites, our host records standard technical request data (IP address, timestamp, user agent) for security and reliability. These are not used to identify you.
We do not collect payment details, government IDs, or any sensitive personal information, because the site never asks you to buy anything or create an account.
Cookies & advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies for analytics. The Scratch Sheet may also display ads served by third-party advertising partners, including Google. These partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits here. You can opt out of personalized Google ads at Google Ads Settings, and out of many third-party vendors at aboutads.info. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
Third-party services
We rely on a few reputable providers to operate: Google (analytics and advertising), Amazon Web Services (email delivery), and our hosting provider. Each handles data under its own privacy policy — see, for example, Google’s Privacy Policy. We share your email only with the service that delivers our newsletter, and only to deliver it.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email using the link in its footer — this deletes your address.
- Block or clear cookies, and enable “Do Not Track,” in your browser settings.
- Opt out of personalized advertising using the links above.
- Email us (see Contact) to ask what we hold or to request deletion.
Children
The Scratch Sheet is intended for adults (18+). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. See our Responsible Play notice.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here.
